Basics

General information about powder coatings

Powder coatings are solid, solvent-free coating materials, which are melted and chemically cross-linked by heat effects after being applied to the substrate to be painted and therefore result in closed, highly adherent coatings. An efficient powder reclaim makes it possible to achieve an utilisation rate of up to 98%.

Powdered paints, like most surface treatments, primarily have two functions: a decorative and/or functional aspect.

Decorative aspect:

  • colour
  • gloss
  • flow/texture

Functional aspect:

  • mechanical properties
  • corrosion resistance
  • weathering
  • chemical resistance
  • electrical insulation
